A lawsuit is now settled between a former victim of sexual abuse and Jehovah's Witnesses. According to the court's website, the case is under a "conditional settlement." The terms and conditions of the settlement are not public. José Lopez filed the lawsuit back in 2012, nearly 20 years after church ... -

Do You Know Any “Gay” Jehovah’s Witnesses?
by minimus inof course the religion condemns homosexuality but did you know any gay witnesses?
i knew some bethelites that were very effeminate and i remember 4 women who were suspected of being lesbians by many in the congregation.
they eventually moved away and were very vocal against males, especially elders..

Cong accounts analysis?
by Farmer Jim1 inanyone on here an ex accounts servant?
i’d be interested in a projection of what percentage of contributions come from elderly jw’s.
i.e, money that will be diminishing over next 5 or 10 years as these ones pass on.. i estimate that in one of my previous congs 50% of the contribution totals of approximately £400 each month were being made by the over 70’s demographic.. within the other 50% were pioneers and low paid workers who put in regular but small amounts.. i guess when the accountants ring the alarm bells you start cutting the biggest costs; full time servants, buildings, printed literature.

I am currently the Accounts Servant, for the last 4 years now. You made me stop and think about this. It is true in our Hall that I say about 75% of the funds come from the over 55 group. With that said, half of all the funds collected from that group comes from 3 individuals (we have about 50 pubs from that group). I would also say that most in our Hall make little, too no contributions at all. Our total Congregation Publisher count stands at 63. I wonder, when the next widow dies, who is going to pick up the slack.
We have been having problems with our funds since I have been collecting them. One Elder (Who is one of the 3 Big Contributors) asked me to break down the collections. I said it's simple. You're the only Elder out of 6 who contributes every month. 3 of the Elders, I see at the most maybe one check a year. From the 7 MS's, I know of only 1 that gives a check each month. His reply was "I shouldn't have asked".
This is crazy, but the only way we have survived is that an Elderly person dies about every 6 months and leaves the Congregation some money.

What Made You Decide To Finally Leave The Organization?
by minimus inwas there one certain event or was it more a cumulative thing?.
-
James Jack
I was reading a post and you mentioned that the Organization would ask publishers whose houses were repaired to send the Insurance money to them. That is so true! I organized groups to do relief work on a regular basis. We did work in Florida, Alabama, MS, LA. I asked a member of the RBC, what happens if the friends don't send in the money. He didn't have an answer. After Katrina, that happened. The Organization got hammered, many in that area had no Insurance. So that arrangement to repair homes was ended. Now, the only relief work is to cleanup( manual labor), and tarp roofs

Do CO's get a check each time they have a convention?
by suavojr induring our weekend convention with the co i noticed he gets his expenses paid for.
my question is if the co then summits another expense report on the following day?
the circuit is split in a and b, so therefore the co meets with the other half the next day.

The CO's do very well for themselves, that is the ones who are smart enough to put some back. Don Wallace(Alabama, USA), a former DO, CO, paid in cash for a house to be built for him in Scottsboro Alabama. I asked him how he was able to pay for it and he said: " while a lot of the other Traveling Brother's were taking lavished vacations, me and Arlene saved our money for the day when we would have to come off the road".

Strange
by Jrjw ina couple of times at the meetings this year we've been told that in the future we might get some strange directions from the society that might not make any sense to us.
then they've said will we show our loyalty to jehovah by still obeying?
seems a rather unusual thing to say.

At our last Servant Meeting with the CO, this article was covered again. He said "we" would receive these orders, being "Appointed Men", and that the Publishers need to be completely trusting us, as faithful men, to take the lead in carrying out these orders.
At another meeting mid week meeting, they showed the "Bunker Video". The statement from our Service Overseer was: "Those Brothers and Sisters survived because they were loyal and obedient. Our chance to show our Loyalty and Obedience is coming soon." He then referenced this Watchtower.
“At that time, the life-saving direction that we receive from Jehovah’s organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint. All of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not.” - Watchtower, November 2013 Study Edition, “Seven Shepherds, Eight Dukes,” paragraph 17
